Taking stock of 2016

It's looking like this harmattan is blessing my skin. My skin is popping. The skin of my face is all yummy like caramel. You can def lick it. Who wants to try loool. I'm so ready for 2017. I'm super duper excited *inserts the butterfly dance step*

First things first, I lost my entire bloglist so now I only have those I followed via friend-connect. Please leave me your blog links in the comment section so I can recoup. I'm so pained cos it's difficult keep track of awesome blogs. Thank you.

So I'm taking stock of 2016. I got this idea from Cassie Daves. I really like it. Check out her blog here. I'm not going to bore you with the details so I'll keep it short and simple (KISS).

Knowing and Realizing: That the more I know, the more I need to know. Gosh! Nobody warned me about this! Adulthood is hard yo! Major scam. I love the learning though. I have been discovering more things about myself, other people and the world. 2016 was an amazing year for reality checks. People will always be human. I am human and fallible too. Know people and accept them for who they are. The best thing I did for myself was not really have expectations from people. People will always be people. They'll be amazing at times and they'll be disappointing at times and that's okay. Even family and friends will disappoint you sometimes, but you'll move past it.
Reading: I had to read a lot this year. It doesn't help that I read for pleasure too. I was able to read some amazing and funny books this year. I found a list on Mackenzie's blog here and I have not been disappointed yet.  Jojo Moyes's Me Before You (read the book before you judge the movie please) and After you, The Rosie project and the Rosie Effect, The Secret (this you should read again and again), Gary Chapman's The Five Love Languages (I can't believe it took me this long to read it) etc. Hoping to read even more in 2017.
Needing: Purposeful networking is something that I need to actively engage in. I can be horrible at following up on friendships. I seriously need to do better.
Eating: I have consciously started eating better. I drink more water (I can't believe my love for Berryblast is over) and eat more fruits. I think I've gained a little bit of weight too. Fingers crossed on sticking with this.
Creating: A clear and workable plan to effectively reach some of my goals.
Making: I think I made a little more impact. Not as much as I would like, but well, #WeMove.
Wasting: I need to stop wasting time and letting opportunities go. Procrastination is the devil, you guys. I need to learn to live more in the moment.
Slacking Off: I really slacked off on my blog this year. I felt so bad, like a mom that abandoned her baby. I'm definitely doing better in 2017. I also slacked a little on my reading goals, but I at least read a book a month.

I have decided to make a thankful journal for those times when I get overwhelmed. I tend to forget how far I have come/achieved sometimes and that is such a joy-stealer. So when these periods come, I can just flip through and be reminded of how totally blessed I am. I'm not even kidding, I think I'm God's Special Project and I cannot be more grateful. I hope to take more risks next year. I'm weirdly excited for 2017. It's definitely going to be a year of  adventure.

Wishing you all the best of 2017.

Kisses xoxo
See you next year

  5. Toni, I think it commendable that you have so many aspirations for the new year... I am taking on one this year, my health... this past year has been very tough ... I got away from being healthy when I got injured... time to make some changes.

I believe writing in any form can help us, especially when we can look back and see how much we have grown and how we survived challenges... I make mine open on my blog but that is not what everyone else does... It is helpful xox
